MyChordBFF

Privacy policy

MyChordBFF works locally on your iPhone. There is no account, advertising, cross-app tracking, or Google Analytics SDK in the app.

Your music stays on your device

The app stores your current session and saved progressions locally. Normal songwriting and playback work offline and do not send your progressions to a server. Device backups may include app data according to your Apple backup settings.

When you choose Share, iOS sends the chord text to the app or recipient you select. That service handles the shared text under its own policies. Deleting MyChordBFF removes its local storage.

Sound and permissions

MyChordBFF plays sound without recording audio. It does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts, location, or photos.

Diagnostics

Technical events and Apple's MetricKit reports are kept locally to help troubleshoot failures. The app retains up to 100 recent technical events and 10 reports, each limited to 2 MB. Events omit progression names and chord sequences; system reports may contain device metadata and app stack traces.

You can export these reports from About → Diagnostics and choose whether to share them. Builds 10 and earlier have no automatic upload service. Starting with build 11, Firebase Crashlytics sends crash stack traces, selected technical errors, app/device/system details, and installation/session identifiers to Google Firebase. Supporting SDKs send technical SDK and session information to operate reporting and measure crash-free sessions. Saved songs, chord progressions, recordings, contact information, and user IDs assigned by us are not attached. Automatic reports are on by default and can be turned off in Help → Diagnostics → Send crash reports. Turning this off stops future automatic crash/error reports and requests deletion of pending reports; reports already sent are not removed. Supporting Firebase services may still exchange technical installation information. See Firebase privacy and security. Apple's TestFlight, purchase processing, and system crash sharing are governed separately by Apple's policies.

Optional links

Theory links open Wikipedia only when selected. Those links do not contain your progression. Your browser then connects to Wikipedia under its policies.

This website and support email

If you accept analytics, this website loads Google Analytics to measure visits, pages viewed, and interactions. Google processes information such as browser and device details, approximate location, and cookie identifiers. Analytics cookies help distinguish visits. We do not enable Google advertising signals or advertising personalization. If you decline, the Google tag does not load. You can change your choice using Analytics settings in the footer; declining stops further analytics collection in this browser and removes its Google Analytics cookies. Your choice is stored locally in your browser. This website setting does not affect the iPhone app, which has no Google Analytics SDK. Google’s privacy policy explains its data handling. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process request information such as IP addresses and technical logs to deliver and protect the site.

If you email support, your email address, message, attachments, and any diagnostics you choose to send are processed to respond and troubleshoot your request. Email providers and any configured forwarding service process those messages to deliver them. Please do not send passwords or other sensitive information.

We do not sell personal information. To ask about or request deletion of support correspondence, contact help@mychordbff.com.
